Plastic Canning Jars with Lids These 1/2 pint plastic jars and matching lids are both made of highly durable polypropylene plastic. This means that they can be steamed, pressure cooked or used within an autoclave repeatedly. The plastic jars themselves are straight-walled and clarified for easy viewing. The lids themselves are white and ribbed for tight gripping. Our plastic jars work great when growing cakes, sterilizing media or starting cultures. Compared to glass, they will not break or crack due to extreme changes in temperature. Also, unlike canning jars, these plastic jars come with plastic (no metal) lids. This means that you’ll have no rusting or staining. There is another advantage to our plastic jars in comparison to conventional glass canning jars. Our plastic jars have the same surface area as a traditional wide mouth glass canning jar.  This will give you the same yield as a glass container. These jars and lids are dishwasher safe, lightweight, and inexpensive to ship (in comparison to glass jars).  Lastly, our 90mm wide mouth synthetic filter discs will fit perfectly on theses jars! *Not to be used for home canning or for food preserving. There is no rubber seal on the lid which will not create the necessary vacuum.   For mushroom growers, the seal is not needed.*
